As part of our learning our second graders have been exploring the lives and impact of Civil Rights Heroes. Through this study, we have discussed the essential question: How do people respond to injustice?

To celebrate and honor their learning, students participated in a special event where they marched and sang “Agents of Change”Students held signs reflecting important values such as treating everyone with kindness, standing up for what is right, and never giving up on making the world a better place.

This was a wonderful opportunity for students to express their voices and show what they have learned about courage, fairness, and the power of change. We are so proud of their hard work and excitement in sharing this meaningful experience with the whole school!

teacher and students wearing decorated letters in a parade

Our youngest learners at PV showed off what they've learned so far during the Kindergarten ABC Parade last week! Older students and staff lined the hallways and cheered as our kindergarteners paraded through the school wearing a chosen letter decorated with items beginning with that letter. Their excitement about learning was contagious! Thank you to Mrs. Single and our kindergarteners for the fun reminder that learning is exciting!!

author reads book to group of students

Author and disability rights activist Caroline Cupp visited PV 1st and 2nd grade classrooms today to share her book This is How We Play! This joyful read-aloud with an empowering refrain demystifies and respects how disabled people and their families use adaptive, imaginative, and considerate play so everyone can join in the fun. Our students thoroughly enjoyed this kid-friendly guide to thinking, learning, and talking about disability.

Growing up with cerebral palsy, Caroline has always been intrigued by the ways that people’s unique stories connect with broader narratives of culture, health, and faith. Thank you Caroline for sharing your passion with our students!

Another wonderful raffle winner experience happened today! Two lucky students had the opportuntiy to walk next door to the UUT Police Department with Mr. Orth for a tour. They were treated to a pizza lunch and helped fly the police drone over our recess area! They were even put in a jail cell but were immediately released for good behavior! 😉 Thank you to our amazing UUT Police Department for being such great neighbors!

Once again, through our wonderful partnership with the UUPD, we are able to offer, as part of our PV school store raffle program, the chance for students to enter and win a police escort to school! This morning, UUPD picked up two students at their home and escorted them to school in a police car!

Thank you again to our wonderful UUPD and our supportive school community!

We had a great Panther Fun Run fundraiser recently! This year, our entire school worked together to raise $14,700 for field trips, homeroom subsidies, and overall school enhancements.

Our Fun Run was engaging for EVERY student in a fun, safe, fitness event with an emphasis on character development. Our character program this year was “Castle Quest” and it was all about how to be brave and live with character. Plus we will be helped our school raise some vital funds.
